Today, Princess M and I went to the home of Kari at A Grace Full Life under the guise of “blogger workshopping”. Meaning that our two daughters would play together (translation – keep each other occupied and not drive us bonkers) while we managed to get some work done.
Now, Kari lives about 90 minutes from me. Yes, ninety. With no traffic. If there’s traffic, I’m totally screwed and could be in the car for two hours. We packed snacks in the car like we were leaving for a week instead of seven hours. Which is four hours of hanging out time and three hours of driving.
The other bonus of heading to Kari’s neck of the woods is that she is very close to the TWO retail locations that sell Chef Jaime Laurita‘s wine. Ever since our interview together (and him plying me with wine at 10:30am), I’ve been obsessed with his Bello Boy Moscato. I have a bottle at home – but technically it is a bottle that I SHARE with Kari so I not allowed to drink it by myself. Which meant that I needed to acquire my own.
Thinking that I was ahead of the game, I rolled in to the Whole Foods parking lot in Kildeer at 9:15am, ran inside with my seven-year old in tow, grabbed a shopping cart full of wine and headed for the check out.
Where I was DENIED because they can’t sell alcohol before 10am.
Kari and I didn’t get much work done. I know that might be a shocking announcement. We actually attempted to work for at least an hour and a half. But then she got lost on Facebook, we started giggling about something, and there was massive drama about a missing-potentially-hidden stuffed animal named Piggy that caused a 15 minute full-house search and a few tears. Lunch time, girl chat, and a little chill-out time and our visit was over!
We were late leaving Kari’s house (I had to see the end of ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey” as well as the previews of what’s happening this season) and my GPS took me a way back that I didn’t know. I was panicked about the time and concerned that I was going to get stuck in the mother of all rush hour traffic messes if I stopped again to retrieve my wine. I didn’t know when I was going to be up here again, so I decided to risk it.
It wasn’t until I made it home – minus getting stuck in rush hour traffic – that it occurred to me that I just bought FIVE bottles of wine and I didn’t own a corkscrew!!
Insert appropriate blonde joke here.
The other retail location for Bello Boy Moscato and Perfect Prosecco is the Whole Foods in Deerfield. Not every bottle comes signed – Chef Jaime Laurita just did a bottle signing at the Kildeer location and there were a few left so I grabbed those!
